Tombs of the Princesses at Deir el-Bahari

Tombs of six princesses were found within the enclosure of the funerary temple of Montuhotep the Second at Deir el-Bahari.

These tombs were dug during the first phase of the temple's construction. When the temple was later enlarged, the six tombs were hidden beneath the royal monument. In each of the six tombs, there was a sarcophagus of a princess composed of six slabs joined together with metallic strips. Each sarcophagus was decorated with very fine reliefs showing the daily life and the offerings.

One example of the sarcophagi found is that of Queen Kawit.
