Tailoring the Royal Robes

Textile workshops are known to have existed in Egypt since the Old Kingdom. They manufactured tunics, dresses, kilts, and aprons for men and women. Sometimes these garments were decorated with beads or fringes, or were pleated and colored.

Life-sized busts of kings might have been used as mannequins or tailor's dummies upon which the king's robes and jewelry would have been fitted.
