Christian Marriage Beliefs

Christianity considers the family to be the building block of a healthy society. As Christianity spread in Egypt, its beliefs and doctrines were taught to families to support them and to protect them so that stability and security would prevail. The bond of marriage is an important doctrine of the Church and one of its seven sacraments.

Therefore, marriage required a divine blessing for the couple to have a spiritual bond that would remain for life, only to be separated by death or betrayal. Marriage celebrations were an opportunity for families to express their happiness.

They also thanked the Lord by inviting the needy to their festivities. The Christian woman believed in the holiness of motherhood just like that of marriage. She became concerned only for the welfare of her children and their correct Christian upbringing.
